Standing for something is not always enough. Sometimes we must do more. Sometimes we need to actively resist the forces working against us. Sometimes we need to do something to get over an obstacle. Sometimes we must push. Pushing is not violence or aggression. Sometimes pushing is not felt or noticed but it is there. Nature is the example. The earth beneath our feet is always pushing. We don’t always feel it or see it but it makes mountains. A tiny seed will grow on rocks. Its roots will take hold and slowly push and crack the stone. Even the most gentle stream of water will carve the earth. We must wake up every day and push. Push against the forces that want to keep us down. These forces come from the world around us and even from within our own minds and bodies. We push because we must. We push because we are humans. We do not always move forward when we push but we must never stop pushing.
